I came to UNNC searching for a way to be more involved with my community, and searching for a way to learn more about the people who call these great neighborhoods their home. Little did I know that the search would include learning more about myself, and for that I’m grateful.
Now, the season for searching has ended, and I enter into the season of letting go, of giving up that which brought me great pride and joy, and stepping aside to let others experience what I have been so blessed to experience during my time as a Board Member, Vice President and President of UNNC– the beauty of community.
My motto for UNNC and the stakeholders we serve has been to share your voice and your vision, and the UNNC elections is the best opportune time to do just that.
Please, come out on this Saturday, June 15 between 10am – 4pm and share your voice and vision by electing the next UNNC board. It’s the season for stepping up and making a difference in your lives, your families, and the community we all love so much.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Sunday June 30. Plan to come out and ride along with the UNNC board members, and people from all over Los Angeles during CicLAvia as it comes through our neighborhoods. Let’s show the rest of LA what we’re made of. We’ll have a booth along the route, so be sure to stop by for a cold drink, and to meet the new UNNC board members.
To all of you I say, not good-bye, but so long, you’ll be seeing me around, for sure. But most of all thank you! Thank you for allowing me to share this season of my life with you. I look forward to watching the historical communities of West Adams, Arlington Heights and Jefferson Park, continue to grow into a social, cultural and economic destination, as it continues to be the best place to live in all of Los Angeles!
Denise Jackson, President
