LA City and County Winter Shelters

Story by: Dorit Dowler-Guerrero

Each winter the City and County of Los Angeles open recreational centers, libraries, and churches/temples to be used as temporary homeless shelters for our unhoused neighbors and community members. The shelters have staff to assist residents in gathering the documents and services they need for their journey out of homelessness. Pets and services animals will be allowed in the shelters. All meals and hygiene supplies will be supplied to residents. Shelters will be open until March 21, 2021.

Due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, this year the shelters will be open 24 hours a day. This means residents will not be asked to gather their belongings and leave each morning.

If you or anyone you know are in need of shelter, please check the list on the flyer (PDF below) and call to see if there are any openings.
