Saturday, December 10
Community Garden Day is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Composting 101 Workshop begins at 10 a.m.
Location: 24th Street Elementary School, 2055 West 24th Street
(Kinney Heights — between St. Andrews and Gramercy Place)
Learn how to compost at home – everyone’s invited to the Garden School Foundation (GSF) this coming Saturday morning for another in our series of free At-Home Composting Workshops at 24th Street Elementary School in Kinney Heights. The workshop is a part of GSF’s December Community Garden Workday.
In January 2022, California passed Senate Bill 1383, requiring all cities and counties to divert food and other organic waste from landfills. Many of us want to follow the mandate but don’t know how to get started. This workshop is designed to help.
Hosted by GSF and UNNC, this in-depth composting workshop is geared towards both beginners and seasoned gardeners. Together we’ll learn the ins-and-outs of at-home composting, including sorting and storing food scraps as well as necessary supplies, and what to do with finished compost. There may be worms…and compost tea.
The Community Garden Workday is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the Composting Workshop kicking off at 10 am. For more details, email GSF at join-us@gardenschoolfoundation.org.
UNNC is excited to continue our partnership with the Garden School Foundation — please do join us!
