Saturday, September 28
8:30 a.m. to Noon

Please join Council District 10 and L.A. Civil Rights for a volunteer Community Cleanup next Saturday, September 28. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and kickoff is at 9 a.m.

The annual Tom LaBonge Day of Service celebrates and honors the legacy of one of the City’s greatest cheerleaders, “Mr. L.A.,” for his dedication and commitment to civil service. The late former Councilmember frequently led cleanup efforts in his District and throughout the city. This annual beautification project is led by LaBonge’s widow Brigid; his children, Charles and Mary-Cate; as well as the Councilmember’s extended family. The effort shows the importance of teamwork and pitching in to help others.

This year, our UNNC community is once again the location of the event. The meet-up/registration/start location is 1819 S Western Ave. REAR (e.g., enter from Manhattan Place). From there, participants will walk up Western Avenue to Pico Boulevard, and then spread east and west — to Normandie and to Arlington.

The beautification effort will include trash and debris removal, weed abatement and sidewalk cleaning. The city will provide latex gloves, trash bags, tools and masks. Please bring your own refillable water bottle.

UNNC will be participating. It should be fun! Will you join us? Please RSVP and share this email with your neighbors!
