Community-Police Advisory Boards (C-PABs) were created by the Los Angeles Police Department in 1993 to give community members a vehicle to provide advice to and raise issues about crime and community-police relations with their local police stations, and to take information from the Police Department back to the community.
Southwest C-PAB has had subcommittees for Block Captain Training and for Community Enhancement (which is mainly blight reduction by concentrating on cleaning up problem properties). C-PAB members serve on the boards of four of the certified Los Angeles Neighborhood Councils in the Southwest station area.
