The United Neighborhoods Governing Board consist of 23 Board seats.
12 board seats are designated for residents of the six region areas within the neighborhood council boundaries (see map page) and 11 seats are for non-resident stakeholders such as business, education, non-profit, cultural heritage, and at-large interests.
The board is elected by stakeholders. “Stakeholders” are those who live, work, or own property in the neighborhood and also those who declare a stake in the neighborhood and affirm the factual basis for it based upon their participation in (amongst other things) parks, recreation areas, public safety organizations, environmental organizations, medical/health organizations, libraries, educational institutions, religious institutions, community organizations, service organizations, non-profit organizations, or other at-large entities.

How to Join the Board
UNNC Board terms are four years, and half the board is up for election every two years.
The board also appoints individuals to finish terms when a board seat becomes available.
The board announces these openings via our mailing list, and candidates are invited to apply. Candidates must be qualified according to the normal terms of the board seat. For example, candidates for Resident Representative for a given neighborhood must reside in that neighborhood, and candidates for At-Large seats must meet the definition of a stakeholder. Please apply for open seats on the UNNC Board here.
How to Present an Issue or Request to the Board
If you have a funding request on behalf of your neighborhood group or organization, please contact the Chair of the Executive Committee or the President.
If you have a land-use issue or concern, please contact the Planning and Zoning committee chair.
Visit our full board member contact page or contact the President if your concern doesn’t fit in the above categories.
Submit your request at least ONE WEEK PRIOR to the scheduled meeting date, as we are required to distribute agendas at least 3 days in advance of our meetings.
If you are with a city department and wish to make a short presentation to the board (generally 5 to 20 minutes), then the President will consider your item for the Governing Board without requiring Executive Committee review.
The full Governing Board meets the first Thursday of the month. The agenda is finalized for distribution one week prior to the meeting so it can be circulated through our e-blast and posted at various locations within UNNC.
